Died December 2013, aged 85: Jack Kelly, of Wavell Grove, Sandal, described as 'Mr Amateur Rugby League', died in Pinderfields Hospital, aged 85. His funeral was at St Austin's RC Church on December 31. Jack, a great grandfather, was the 'driving force' behind Brookhouse and Wakefield Loco teams. In the Yorkshire Post 40 years ago he was given the accolade of a 'reluctant hero' who would not take credit for the teams he helped build and the players he coached. These included ex-Leeds and Great Britain winder Alan Smith. The former club secretary was also well known as a teacher at Kettlethorpe Middle School where he taught French, English and PE. His wife, Betty, died in 1977.
